Position Summary
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Ops/Production Superintendent is responsible for the effective and successful management of labor, productivity, quality control and safety measures as established and set for the Operations Department. Ensure safe and efficient operations.
Supervisor Responsibilities
This position has supervisory responsibilities over other employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure mine operations' shift objectives are met in an economical, safe and environmentally responsible manner.
- Provide shift supervisors with direction and support for operations. Monitor production throughout shift to ensure compliance to plans and objectives.
- Evaluate digging methods, operator techniques and overall machine productivities. Develop and implement needed changes for continuous improvement and achievement of mining objectives.
- Maintain communication with the shift supervisors, dragline operators, and engineering on a regular basis. These include productivities, dig plans, operator scorecards, and specific KPI's.
- Plan the deployment of personnel and equipment for operations based on mine plan objectives and current circumstances.
- Carry out regular inspections of all mine workings to identify and correct hazards and unsafe work practices.
- Identify training requirements for personnel on shift and coordinate with the training supervisor.
- Perform related work as required.
Typical Physical Demands
Work in a safe manner at all times and be aware of environmental responsibilities both in an office and field environment. This is sedentary work which requires the following physical activities: bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, walking, finger dexterity, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of related work experience.
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
Licenses, Registration, and Certifications
- Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
