Position Summary
The employee in this classification is responsible for the operation of a variety of heavy mobile equipment in a continuous mining operation. This responsibility will include assisting maintenance personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of heavy equipment required in a coal mining operations.
- Inspect equipment to ensure proper operation, report the need for major repairs, and maintain operating and service logs.
- Clean, lubricate and refuel equipment, including any minor adjustments and other service requirements associated with the particular type and kind of equipment operated.
- Assist with repairs and major overhauls of the equipment.
- Perform related work as required.
Typical Physical Demands
Work in a safe manner at all times and be aware of environmental responsibilities in a mining setting.
Education and Experience
- Grade 12 education or equivalent
Licenses, Registration, and Certifications
- 3A License is required
